Remedies
for relieving tired legs

ARE YOUR LEGS TIRED AND
ACHING? DO YOU
NOTICE AN UNPLEASANT TINGLING SENSATION IN
YOUR LEGS? |
|
In
the majority of cases, this is due to bad venous return, whereby
the veins aren’t able to circulate the blood to the lower
limbs at a normal rate. Blood is returned from the legs against
the force of gravity by muscular contractions which impulse
the blood upwards. A system of valves in the veins stop the
blood flowing back downwards. When this system isn’t working
properly the
familiar complaints are produced. When this happens, blood is
accumulated in the smaller veins and capillaries leading to
hypertension and an emission of fluid (plasma) into the surrounding
tissues.
This accumulated liquid is what produces the sensation of heaviness,
swelling, itchiness, cramps and aching.
|
One in three people in Spain suffer from circulatory problems
to the lower limbs. When these persist hey can lead to high
blood pressure in the veins and capillaries which in turn produces
a constant leaking of plasma into the surrounding tissues.
This is known as a oedema. 41% of sufferers are women over 15,
and although the percentage increases with age, it is not until
their 30s that most women note the symptoms. The symptoms become
more intense at the end of the day and in the hotter seasons,
especially summer.
There are certain factors which are conducive to the appearance
of these symptoms; genetic disposition, a sedentary lifestyle,
standing for long periods, being overweight, very tight clothing,
using very high or very fl at heeled shoes, smoking and excessive
drinking, hormonal changes and pregnancy.
There is no specific treatment for venous insufficiency, but
the symptoms can be treated. We can, however, reduce the severity
and frequency of the with these preventative measures: |
 |
1.
Control your weight. A balanced diet rich in fresh
fruit and vegetables, high fibre legumes and whole cereals will
help maintain a healthy digestive system. Fresh fruit and vegetable
contain flavonoids which help to protect the blood vessels.
Avoid excessive use of salt, spicy food and alcohol. Give your
body its recommended daily dose of fruit and vegetables with

| 2.
Incorporate Aloe Vera Gel into your diet. Daily intake
of Aloe Vera Juice helps our body function at top performance
with more energy and better protected against both external
and internal agents that weaken or attack our systems. It also
helps keep our digestive system in top working condition, cleaning
it out naturally and helping to regulate weight gain. |
| 3.
Avoid smoking. |
| 4.
Do regular physical exercise: walk, swim or ride a
bike. Do specialised foot exercises such as walking on tip-toes
or your heels, flex your ankles. |
| 5.
Use comfortable clothes and shoes that are not tight and restrictive. |
|
|
 |
6. Avoid standing or remaining in the same posture for
long periods. Do not cross your legs when sitting.
Raise your legs when you are resting.
|
|
7.
Massage your legs from calf to thigh with Aloe Body Conditioning
Creme or Aloe Gelly. Aloe contains 12 substances to
inhibit
inflammation, which together with its Aloe content will relax
your legs wonderfully. Aloe Body Conditioning also contains
ivy and ginger which help eliminate excess liquids from swollen
areas by stimulating circulation. |
| 8.
Avoid excessive exposure to sun or high temperatures. |
| 9.
Use elastic graduated compression stockings. These
help enhance venous return. |
| In any
case, remember that these symptoms may well be the sign of a
more serious or dangerous health problem. If they persist or
become especially acute, see a specialist who will study your
particular case and guide you towards the specifi c treatment
that you need. |
